The Perkins School offers an integrated, challenging, experiential curriculum with flexibility for individual learning. Our program is based on best educational practices and is reviewed annually for its appropriateness and relevance.

Perkins’ curriculum is comprised of core classes and enrichment classes. Students learn from experienced educators who are passionate about teaching children and have specialized training in their subject areas.  Using an interdisciplinary approach, core teachers build bridges and make connections between disciplines, rather than teaching them in isolation. Enrichment specialists also find links between the skills and content they teach and what their students are studying in their other classes.

As a Candidate Member in the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS), Perkins School is currently preparing for accreditation. To that end, the School is being guided by National Standards, Washington State’s Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALR’s) and norms set by peer independent schools. Perkins teachers are expected to continue their professional development on an ongoing basis. Perkins graduates consistently are accepted into and excel in challenging middle school programs including those at Billings Middle School, The Bush School, Eastside Prep, The Seattle Girls’ School, University Prep, and the APP and Spectrum Programs of Seattle Public Schools.
